ceramic resistors

Ceramic resistors are the most used components in electrical circuits and their main objective is to limit current and distribute voltage throughout the system.

Due to their characteristics, they are usually used in places where high power dissipation is required. It should be noted that they can also be used as a heating element.

En Nugar Resistor Technology We manufacture ceramic resistors for industrial uses using the highest quality materials and the latest in technology to create efficient devices that adapt perfectly to current times.

So that you do not have doubts at the time of purchase, here we will tell you what aspects you should take into account to find the component you need:

Aspects to Take into Account of Ceramic Resistors

One of the most important things you should know is that the values of ceramic resistors are fixed. Power is another of the fundamental aspects to review of these components. Generally, it is not indicated, but you can know it approximately by the size of the product.

Tolerance is the percentage of the factory nominal value by which the value of a real resistor can fluctuate (up or down). This occurs because, at the time of manufacturing ceramic resistors, the material and dimensions vary.

You must also take into account the temperature coefficient, which is the increase or decrease in electrical resistance according to the variation in temperature. When heated, the value of its resistance can rise or fall, giving rise to positive or negative coefficients (measured in 1/°C or in degrees Kelvin).

Ceramic is a very common internal component in many industrial resistors because it works very well on circuits that require high power to function perfectly.

Broadly speaking, we can define two different types of ceramic resistors: carbon film resistors and metal film resistors.

ceramic resistors

Carbon Film Resistors

This type of resistors consists of a ceramic tube as a substrate on which a carbon film is deposited and covered with an insulating lacquer.

These components stand out for having good tolerance, in most cases 5%, low inductance and very quiet operation.

In addition, they usually offer a low power range, reaching up to 2 watts of dissipated power.

Metallic Film Resistors

These components are made from a thin layer of metal that is rolled onto an insulating support and, at the ends, two caps are pressed.

Metal film resistors are the most widely manufactured today because they are economical and also provide interesting benefits.

The ability to generate a stable electrical connection for a long time, the possibility of reaching 175°C and the low noise it produces are some of the advantages of this type of device.

Taking into account the values, the temperature coefficient, the resistance and the power, you will not have any problem finding the device you need.
